Go Sailing Clinic for ages 16+ on Alta Lake

Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21
10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Our certified instructors will give a 3.5 hour introduction clinic on Sailing.  No experience required.  Open to participants of all levels beginner to advanced, groups will me made according to ability levels.

Location: 5678 Alta Lake Road (Parking available)
Cost: $35 per person.
Pre-registration recommended: Register now

10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. On-site registration
This clinic is for people age 16+.
Boats and life jackets are supplied.


Go Sailing Regatta on Alta Lake

Sunday, May 21

  • Boats are supplied
  • Sailing experience required.

Location: 5678 Alta Lake Road (Parking available)
Cost : $25 per person,  4 heats
Pre-registration recommended: Register now

Regatta Schedule:

  • 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Registration and check in 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Skipper meeting 1:30 p.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. boat setup and launch
  • First Race 2:30 p.m.
  • End of Racing 4:30 p.m.
  • BBQ and snack soon after racing.
  • Awards 5:30 p.m.

Course to be sailed, will be announced at the skippers meeting.

Category Prizes:

  • Top 3 boats
  • Top family team ( father son, father daughter, mother son or mother daughter) constitutes a family team

Please note:

  • Boats and life jackets are provided
  • WSA waiver must be signed by each participant.
  • Scoring will be in according to the RRS ( Racing Rules of Sailing )

Go Sailing Clinic and Regatta Race: Do both activities!

General Sailing Safety Note:  Each participant must wear a personal flotation device (PFD) at all times while on the water. A motorized safety boat will be on the water. Caution: spring conditions, water is still cold.  Wet suits are recommended to sail at this time of the year.


About the WSA

The Whistler Sailing Association is a group of recreational dinghy sailing enthusiasts who enjoy getting out on Whistler’s Alta Lake for a sail.  We meet throughout the summer Wednesday nights for a fun race followed by a social. We are a fully accredited Sailing School and we teach the Sail Canada curriculum.  Our purpose is to promote sailing by offering  affordable “Learn to Sail” courses and clinics for all ages and abilities.  Furthermore we strive to promote community spirit by organizing community sailing events.WSA has a growing team of Certified Sailing Coaches running instructional sailing programs from May to October each year on Alta Lake.
