The Whistler Sailing Association's Club Championship on Alta Lake was an unforgettable event, showcasing the skill and determination of our sailors in the iconic "Pirate" sailboats. With 20 participants vying for the title, the competition was fierce as blustery conditions and gusts over 20 knots set the stage for a thrilling evening. The two-lap course, bathed in a stunning alpenglow, challenged sailors as the strong winds and cooler temperatures forced some early retirements after the first race.
The battle for the title came down to three formidable teams: Lira Ilyasova and Pippa Warner, Dave Ellis and Huw Jones, and Zoe Williams and Phil Hargreaves. In a series of tightly contested races, it was the consistency and boat speed of Lira and Pippa that ultimately earned them the championship title. Congratulations to all who competed and made this a memorable night on the lake!
