Our Learn to Sail courses follow the CANSail nationwide standardized certification system.
Sailing 101 - Introduction to Sailing / CANSail 1
Have you always wanted to learn how to sail? This is the course for you. Learn the basics of sailing with an experienced instructor. The course will cover terminology, points of sail, knots, rigging, sail trim, tacking and boat safety including righting a capsized boat. Come ready to sail! The majority of the course time will be spent on the water. This course covers the CANSail 1 requirements, and upon successful completion, candidates will receive their CANSail 1 certification.
Please note: the 101 course can be offered as a Private Lesson. A total of 6 hours of instruction are required to complete this course.
Sailing 201 - Intermediate Sailing / CANSail 2
The next level in the progression, the Sailing 201 course builds on the skills learned in the 101 course. Participants will gain confidence with more intermediate manoeuvres and skills such as gybing, stopping, accelerating and docking. Upon successful completion, participants will receive their CANSail 2 certification.
Please note: the 201 course can be offered as a Private Lesson. A total of 6 hours of instruction are required to complete this course.
